QUIZ NIGHTS AT THE ROYAL ARMS     The Royal Arms

next date: Thursday 2 September 2010

 Calling all book lovers!

BOOK SALE

The Royal Arms Book Group has sponsored the Reading Challenge at Llangrove School since March this year.  Children read 5 books, score them out of 5 and then complete a task related to the reading they have done.  A book token prize is given for each completed challenge.  Parents designed fabulous leaflets, certificates and posters to be used by staff and children during the challenge.

A book sale to raise more funds took place at The Royal Arms, Llangrove over the bank holiday. There are still some books left though, if you missed it!

The Royal Arms Book Group meets once a month on Tuesday at the pub.  Contact 01989 770267 for more information.  New members are very welcome.

OTHER WAYS TO FIND OUT WHAT'S GOING ON

Border News  The Border Group of churches, which includes Llangrove, publishes Border News, ten issues a year.  There is a double issue July/Aug, Dec/Jan. Each church in the group has a small section to advertise forthcoming events etc.  In addition there is editorial and space for local tradespeople.  This can be delivered to your home for a small annual donation. If you wish to be put on the distribution list, contact Maggie Pridgeon on 01989 770435.

Village News  This publication also covers several villages but is able to carry photographs of local events and other articles of general interest. The Village News is available with a suggested donation of 50p. The nearest collection point would be from the Village Hall, Royal Arms, Christ Church or Whitchurch Post Office.  Also see http://www.thevillagenews.org.uk/ .

By email directly  Llangrove Links forwards items of current interest via an email distribution list. Any emailings will always be blind copied to protect your email address from others. If you want to be added to the distribution list, contact llgrove_links@tiscali.co.uk.

Notice boards  There are two notice boards opposite the school, on the bus stop corner. One is for general use, the other belongs to Llangarron Parish Council.  The school and church each have their own notice-boards which may also be of interest.
